Most people feel more comfortable hiring an attorney that has an office near where they live. But did you know that this will cost you money? Lots of money.
This is how:
When your attorney goes to court for you he/she charges travel costs to and from the courthouse. So for example, if you live in Davie, Pembroke Pines, etc. that attorney will charge you about 35 minutes to the courthouse and 35 minutes back to his/her office. That is a little more than an hour. Most attorneys charge $250 – $350 hourly. So if your attorney has to go to court for at least three to four court hearings they are charging you from $1000 to $1400 just for driving in their car! Plus they will charge you for the parking fee that they incur. This will add up significantly. My office is within walking distance from the courthouse and you are welcome to park in my building lot for free (when available). I do not charge travel costs. So from the beginning of your case my office can save you a lot of money in costs that are regularly charged by other attorneys.
